TC's Top 10 Emails
I was inspired to share with you, the Sista Circle, my favorite emails that I've received over the past few months. Oh, most of us get so many mass emails that we barely have time to read them all. Funny how they all have a subject line which reads: "Do not delete! This is worth reading!" Curiosity gets the best of you, and despite your time constraints, you open it. As for the following emails, I'm glad I did! Some made me laugh out loud; one brought me to tears, and others made me really think. A few ended up on the wall of my office, and I've added the quotes to my own email. Either way, they were all "keepers." So, please keep 'em coming in 2008, at tc@sistacircle.com
Best Proposal (and best tear-jerker)
.
Black love does indeed exist! As living proof, check out Robert Gray’s magical proposal, that was all the buzz on the Internet. This brother (clearly an annointed man) from Atlanta went to great lengths to show his intended, Keisha Williams, how much he loved her. To save money for a proposal that required ten hotel rooms, 400 roses flown in from South Africa, dozens of candles and a personal photographer, Gray rented out his home for a year and moved in with his sister. When asked why he went to such lengths to propose, Robert said, "It was truly a vision from God." (The couple is featured in Essence Magazine February 2008 issue, having inspired the magazine's current contest for most creative proposals by men).

Psalm 23 for the Work Place

Dear GOD,
GOD you are my real boss, and I shall not want; for you give me peace, when chaos is all around me
GOD you gently remind me to pray and I do all things without murmuring and complaining
GOD you remind me that you are my source and not my job
And GOD you restore my sanity everyday and guide my decisions that I will honor you in all that I do
Even though I face an absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and an aging body that doesn't always want to cooperate when I wake in the morning; I will not stop for you are with me
GOD your presence, your peace, and your power will see me through
And GOD you raise me up, even when they fail to promote me and GOD you claim me as yours even when the company threatens to let me go
And your faithfulness and love is better than any bonus…and your retirement plan; it beats any 401k!
And finally GOD when it is all said and done, I’ll be working for you a whole lot longer than any employer and for that I am thankful and I bless your name
Amen

Best Riddle

Note: Below is one of my absolute favorites...
A man and his son were driving along when they were involved in a terrible accident. After being rushed to the hospital by ambulance, the father had a few bumps and bruises, but was otherwise not hurt. Unfortunately, his son was in critical condition and would required emergency surgery. The man signed all of the necessary consent forms and the boy was quickly taken to surgery. The old, grey haired surgeon took one look at the boy and said, "I can not operate on my own son." Question: Can you explain this story? When you give up, pan down for the answer.....

Answer: The surgeon was a woman! The boy's mother. 95% of those who try to answer this, never imagine an "old, grey-haired surgeon" to be a woman. * Note: To me, a surgeon represents one of great skill, and "old and grey-haired" represents one with years of experience in their profession. Why not a woman? This is an exercise that speaks to the hang-ups and stereotypes that we still seem to have when it comes to gender. Love this riddle! ********************************************
Best funny short-take
A professor wrote the words "woman without her man is nothing" on the blackboard and asked the class to punctuate. The male students wrote: Woman, without her man, is nothing. The female students wrote: Woman! Without her, man is nothing!

Best Reflection

My Aunt Juanita sent this to me after a conversation we had on the passing of my mother. It was powerful to me. I hope that it helps you to put life, and the time you spend in this life, in total perspective. http://susie1114.com/LiveALife.html
Best Love Thyself Quote
"Never make someone your priority, when they only make you an option."
Best Woman's Empowerment

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a
woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.
THIS SAYS IT ALL: Time passes -- Life happens -- Distance separates......Children grow up.....Jobs come and go........Love waxes and wanes........Men may disappoint..........
Hearts break..........Parents die.........Colleagues forget favors..........Careers end.
BUT.........Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself:
The women in your life will be on the valley's rim. Cheering you on. Praying for you. Pulling for you. Intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out!
Girlfriends, Daughters, Granddaughters, Daughters-in-law, Sisters, Sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts, Nieces, Cousins, extended family, etc., all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women. And Neither would you. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.
Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful. I just did.
