I'm not a nutritionist, but I love, love, love food! Cooking it, serving it and eating it. I love food because it's delicious!
I'm just your average female, struggling with the same food issues most women struggle with every day. Like you, I've tried a few fad diets. Lost some weight, gained some back. I guess you could say I have a love hate relationship, not with food itself, but the guilt of knowing how much of it will make it impossible for me to fit into my pants. And, like many of you, I was brought up in a household rooted in "down home," southern, country ideals; where food was the ultimate expression of love and nurturing, and family gatherings were filled with good eatin'!!! But not exactly a low-cal feast, if you know what I mean. Food is my passion, but I think I finally have it under control.
Has yoyoing up and down twenty pounds (or more) become the story of your life? Well, news flash: There is no big secret diet that will make you lose weight and keep it off! It's about plain ol' healthy eating, moderation and portion control, exercise, and the motivation to get it all done. Now, I basically follow the Weight Watchers point system or weight down, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Losing and maintaining weight is not a temporary change -- it's a lifestyle - but it doesn't mean that life gets less fun. I'm still loving what I eat! Just a little less on the plate, and a lot more movement (exercise) these days.
