Established in 1947, Kiddies Kollege was created with the purpose of
preparing children for their entrance into the 1st Grade,
socially, physically, emotionally and academically.
Kiddies Kollege was first located on J Street, Northeast Washington,
D.C. with an enrollment of just 14 children. Yet over the years,
Kiddies Kollege has grown and prospered into two thriving "Kampuses!"
Excited preschoolers can now attend the Beaver Heights, Maryland
location or the newly opened facility on Varney Street, in Southeast
Washington, D.C.
Laura W. Shumate is a product of both the Maryland and District of

She is still active in the programs and activities of Kiddies Kollege
and continues to do what she loves best by giving back to the community.
Her personal mission is to give each child an early start in order that
he or she may grow to become a responsible citizen.

This is one Sista who's not just talkin' the talk, but walkin' the walk.
As Ms. Shumate says, "Our greatest resource is our children
and we must remember our responsibility to them."
Thank you Ms. Shumate! We salute your vision, love and tireless
dedication!
And on a personal note: I'd never reveal another woman's age, but
if I told you.... you'd call me a liar! Lookin' good Ms.
Shumate!
